Power connectors are rated up to 750 A

ACAL Technology are sampling a range of power connectors designed to deliver the combination of high power rating, small footprint and competitive pricing required for battery connection in electric drive vehicles and in a wide range of industrial applications.
Developed from Hypertac’s proven HBB series of high-power connectors for defence applications, the HBC series are industrial-grade, single-pole circular connectors which deliver standard current-ratings of 300A and 500A, with 750A available on request. They feature Hypertac’s patented Hyperboloid contacts which increase connection reliability and achieve resistive losses of just 0.05m to simplify thermal management and improve power-handling capability in a smaller footprint and overall mass.

The HBC series also offers easy mating and quick release, as well as a gender-reversible, polarised design, to facilitate assembly. These features also allow for easier maintenance and fast changeover which can reduce system downtime.
Design flexibility is enhanced with a wide range of configurations, with the choice of aluminium, nickel-plated or thermoplastic shells, in cable or panel-mount versions, with straight or right-angle back shells. This allows users to select the best connector configuration to simplify their cable management architecture and further increase reliability by reducing interconnection errors.
Mated HBC connectors are environmentally sealed to IP67, finger-proof to IP20, and offer optional 360 degrees EMI/RFI shielding. They are rated for use at up to 1000V DC, and the 300A versions accept cable sizes of up to 70mm2, whilst the 500A versions are suitable for 120mm2 cables.
ACAL’s specialist design support helps designers of electric drive and industrial applications to use the HBC series to develop innovative designs which reduce the cost, weight and size of secure interconnection. ACAL Technology’s Design and Manufacturing Services Centre at Wokingham, UK, also provides support at the manufacturing stage, with extensive in-house assembly facilities for end-to-end product development and systems integration.
