MUNICH, Germany — Bosch group has launched a regional center for research and advanced engineering in Singapore. With its Research and Technology Center Asia Pacific, the German group hopes to establish long-term R&D partnerships in the region.

The first project of the center will focus on organic photovoltaics. It will be conducted in cooperation with the Nanyang Technological University. The company will invest €15 million (about $22 million) through 2015 into the project which will employ 30 researchers.

"The APAC region offers a huge potential of R&D opportunities," said Uwe Raschke, Bosch general manager for the Asia/Pacific region. "Our regional center in Singapore brings us nearer to local research trends and enables us to unlock highly attractive markets."

Bosch's center in Singapore will also coordinate the company's existing research activities in Tokyo and Shanghai.
