Solyndra snatches $238 million order

MUNICH, Germany — Photovotaic systems vendor Solyndra, Inc. will provide solar panels in the value of $238 million to German solar system integrator Umwelt-Sonne-Energie GmbH (USE). With the contract, Solyndra's order backlog will climb to more than $2 billion.

USE, based in Holzgerlingen near Stuttgart, designs, builds and runs photovoltaic turnkey solutions for customers in Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Austria and Croatia.

The contract has a validity period until 2013. The thin-film solar panels for the USE orders will be manufactured in Solyndra's production sites in California, the company said.
